Humboldt Bay Social Club

Yesterday’s adventure was trying to catch some sunshine, but it wouldn’t be Humboldt County if we didn’t also catch some fog. We took a drive out to Blue Lake, where we can usually find some sun, while Arnie napped in the car. Then we headed towards the peninsula, where we took a walk on the beach in Samoa. It was foggy and the waves were wild, but at least it was still warm enough for shorts!

After our walk on the beach, we stopped at the Humboldt Bay Social Club, one of my favorite spots in the county. This converted airport hanger is a great spot for people to gather, have some drinks, eat food, and let the dogs and kids run around. They offer a small menu of prepared food, but you can also purchase food (steaks, oysters, etc.) to cook outside on their barbecues.

We enjoyed some sandwiches in the intermittent sunshine, and Arnie ran around playing with the oyster shells. It was a nice way to end the busy weekend. We had family visiting over the weekend and have been going nonstop for the past couple of weeks. We ended the day at home watching the Super Mario Brothers movie on the couch, and I was grateful for an early bedtime before starting a busy week at work!
