Growth Loops
I listened to a podcast on Spotify last night called Career Contessa. The episode hosted a woman named Anne Laure Le Cunnf, founder of a company called Ness Labs. This episode detailed her career journey, how it took some unexpected turns, and how she was able to turn her career into something she loves.
One thing in particular that stood out to me was the concept of Growth Loops (an article can also be found on her website here). I found this concept really useful to implement in my thinking about career growth. Instead of thinking of career growth as linear, it is helpful to think of it in smaller, circular iterations. Instead of trying to define your 3 year plan, how can you simply identify the next step, and then incorporate feedback from that action to then inform your next action?
I found this advice helpful when thinking about this website / blog. I have no idea where this will end up. Maybe somewhere, maybe absolutely nowhere. But, I don’t need to know. All I need to focus on is creating something that is fun for me and continue to iterate on it by incorporating new ideas and feedback. The fact is, we have no way to predict the future, but we can spend our time in the present on things that challenge us, energize us, and allow us to grow and expand.
Lastly, it was mentioned how we can and should ask for help. Sometimes we get stuck, and it can be incredibly beneficial to reach out to others in our inner circle for advice and guidance. It’s a good reminder that we don’t have to do it all alone, and other people can bring helpful perspectives and knowledge that we may not have ourselves. Additionally, these people can support you and your vision and can be helpful cheerleaders along the way.
