Easter & Lifetime Friends
This weekend I flew down to the Bay Area to celebrate Easter with family and some of my oldest friends. I have had the same core group of girlfriends since I was a young girl. We’ve gone through a lot together, and although we’ve all taken steps down different paths, we always find our way back to each other to celebrate important (and unimportant) events.
This year we are celebrating Easter with several new babies and even more on the way! It was fun and very chaotic. I remember the days when we used to get together, so carefree, spending our time figuring out how to have the most fun. We still do that (find the fun), but now we have so much more responsibility on our shoulders. We have children, jobs, relationships, and careers to manage. Many have moved from our childhood hometown (including me), but I appreciate we can always find our way back together, either there or elsewhere around the world.
These girls feel more like family than friends, and I appreciate the lifelong friendship. Time does create some strong bonds. We can always pickup right where we left off and even though we don’t see each other often, it feels like we never left. We can count on each other for advice on navigating the new terrain we are embarking on through life, which is really important. Life is meant to be shared in community, and some of these women have been my community for twenty-plus years. So, this Easter I just want to give a shout-out to the women in my life who’ve been there through good and bad times and thank them for continually showing up in my life.
